On 1st of July, we will inaugurate the Environmental Education Center «La Dehesa» in Madrid, our exhibition Bicycles and Africa, which aims to raise awareness and make visible the use of bicycles in different countries in development and in this case, particularly in African countries. The exhibition covers several countries of the African continent in order to show different ways of using bicycles as a means of transport, as forms of leisure and as support in the transportation of diverse goods. The selection of photographs makes travel to countries as varied as Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
The photographs shown were made by the NGO GLOBART and by a group of travelers from Chile and Argentina «A Pedales Africa» who toured the continent throughout the year 2017.
In addition to these photographs, the exhibition presents a project led by the NGO SocentLabo in which GLOBART collaborates and which has the collaboration of the ICAI Foundation and the funding of the Alstom Foundation. Its main objectives are to facilitate the transport of goods by bicycles and electric bicycles with the support of a trailer designed in the framework of this project. This project also has the support of ESNE, who this exhibition would not be a reality. You will be able to see the trailer designed in its first version that we developed in the framework of a sustainable mobility project aimed at developing countries.
